Hear Ye, Hear Ye! The Royal Court is Now in Session!

The Free Poker Network’s Royal Court Promo kicked off its Fall Season with an exciting night of poker as 19 Mavericks gathered to compete for the league championship. The atmosphere was lively, filled with anticipation and friendly rivalry, as the Maverick Poker League added a fun twist to the evening’s games: a pull-tab bonus for any player who won a hand with the infamous seven-deuce.

As the cards hit the felt, the league welcomed a new player, Terry Cook, into the fray. The first game was fast-paced and competitive, with the seven-deuce promo hitting at each table. By the end of Game 1, it was Steve Cooper and last season's league champ, Scott Sutter, emerging victorious at their respective tables, setting the stage for an intense night.

Game 2 continued the action, with Cliff Jones and Mike Swaim taking the top spots. Heading into the third and final game of the evening, Cooper held a narrow two-point lead over Sutter, but four other players were still in striking distance, all aiming to dethrone the leaders.

As the final game unfolded, the top contenders began to fall. Cooper was the first to exit, followed by Sutter, Cliff Jones, and Mike Soper. This left a two-person showdown between Mike Baker and Mike Swaim, both eyeing the coveted top spot. Swaim had a slim one-point advantage, but the battle at their table raged on, with each player matching the other’s moves.

After a couple of tense levels, it was Mike Baker who claimed victory at the table, tying with Swaim and forcing a tiebreaker. In the end, Baker’s strong finish in Game 1 broke the tie, securing him the win for the night and marking his first-ever Maverick Poker League triumph! Congratulations to Mike Baker on his well-earned victory, as well as to Mike Swaim, who finished in second, and Jim Elwart, who had a solid third-place performance.
