Gutshot Gary Strikes Back on Star Wars Day

ultimate prize, the NATIONAL
TOURNAMANT, an annual
event with enough money and
prestige to satisfy all.
Pursued by the 6 Paupers'
aggressive players, Gutshot
Gary takes a seat at the final
table, custodian of the
poker skills that can outlast
his rivals and overcome the
suck-outs of the galaxy….
Gutshot Gary, the self-proclaimed luckiest guy in the world, some 24-hours after his princess, Rollercoaster Rachel, accepted his marriage proposal; substantiated his claim by winning his first tournament of the 100K promo. In stark contrast, Matt Shrinky-Dink Darron (you go back to Tie-Dye Matt once you start wearing tie-dyes again) played a game of pure perseverance and determination. Matt finished in third place despite having his two flopped sets cracked, one resulting in a rebuy during level 2 of play, and he endured the following hand:
Blinds were 500/1000 with 1000 BBA. Suchat The Crusher Pederson bets 3k UTG. Gutshot Gary, in mid-position, goes all-in with a sizable stack (~15k) in an attempt to either isolate or just take it down pre-flop. Matt Shrinky-Dink Darron, in BB, contemplates his situation for a solid 60 seconds before shoving all-in with the chip lead. Suchat considers all of the post-bet action and elects to call with the smallest of the three stacks. Suchat tables 88, Gary flips over AK, and Matt turns over KK. The flop gives Gary extra outs as it comes out QJ4. A 9 on the turn provides a split second of dread as the players sigh a moment of relief as they realize that it wasn’t one of Suchat’s 8’s. The dealer burns a card then presents the prettiest card in the deck, The Ace of Spades. Matt roared out an obscenity in disappointment; Suchat was gracefully left the table, eliminated in 18th place; and Gary sheepishly racked in the pot he totally Barry Greenstein’ed away for Matt.
Heads-up featured the third pitting of Brayan Suited Aces Estrada Rojas vs Gutshot Gary. Brayan, with new hope, won the first match back on February 9, 2022. Gary struck back and won the second match on July 21, 2022. And this third match concluded when Gary’s suited K8 out-flopped Brayan’s 65, completing Gary’s return.
