Double Points Night Shakes Up the Standings!

As the clock struck 6:00 PM, 22 determined Mavericks—including fresh-faced newcomer Honour Stoutenburg—gathered at The Mayfield Tavern, each eyeing the coveted double points up for grabs. With just a month remaining in the Winter Season, every hand played carried immense weight. However, the stakes skyrocketed with the Free Poker Network's bombshell announcement: this season’s FPN Winter Championship winner would earn a seat at the 2025 WSOP Main Event! Suddenly, every chip mattered even more.
Early Sparks Ignite Fierce Competition
The night kicked off with Lewis Iler and Amber Soper making strong opening statements, each securing table wins in Game One. But Lucas McEvoy, returning to the Mavericks’ arena, and Jim Elwart refused to be overshadowed, both finishing second at their tables and keeping themselves in striking distance.
Game Two only tightened the field, introducing two more victors into the fray—Tyler Macsuga and James Ramsey, who notched impressive table wins. Scott Sutter and Mike Soper refused to back down, finishing second at their respective tables and ensuring a neck-and-neck race heading into the final round.
A Battle for the Crown
As the final game commenced, James Ramsey led with 20 points, but he had Jim Elwart and Amber Soper hot on his heels at 18 points each, with Scott Sutter and Mike Soper lurking just behind at 17 points. The tension at both tables was palpable, as every move could determine the night’s champion.
In a dramatic finish, Mike Nass and Candace Sutter emerged victorious at their tables. However, it was James Ramsey’s steady performance that secured him just enough points to edge out Mike Soper and claim the night’s victory! Candace Sutter’s dominant final game pushed her into third place, while Lewis Iler and Jim Elwart rounded out the top five.
The Road to the Championship: Who Will Claim the Throne?
With just a month remaining and one more double points night looming, the leaderboard has been shaken—but far from settled. Jim Elwart remains the frontrunner, but Mike Soper, Candace Sutter, Lewis Iler, and James Ramsey are all within striking distance, setting up an electrifying final stretch.
With the WSOP Main Event seat on the line, every decision, every bluff, and every all-in could be the difference between poker glory and heartbreak.
Who will rise? Who will crumble under pressure? The battle for the Maverick Poker League Winter Championship is reaching its boiling point.
As always, see you on the felts, Mavericks!
