There may have been a chill in the air, but the action at The Mayfield Tavern was red hot Tuesday night as 21 Mavericks gathered for Week Two of the Free Poker Network’s Spring Season. With the momentum of the season building and points up for grabs, players came ready to test their mettle—and the competition did not disappoint.

Soper Starts Strong—Again

The night kicked off with a bang as Mike Soper picked up right where he left off last week, storming to victory at his opening table. Amber Soper and Tyler Macsuga also notched early wins, setting a fierce tone for the evening. Soper’s fast start had everyone on high alert—and as Game Two wrapped up, the leaderboard had tightened to a thrilling four-way tie at the top: Mike Soper, Mike Baker, Dale Pinson, and Mike Nass were locked in, with three other players just a whisper behind.

Game Three: The Turning Point

With everything on the line in Game Three, the tension was thick. In a surprise twist, Soper—so dominant early—was the first to fall at his table, ensuring a new winner would emerge. Moments later, both Mike Baker and Dale Pinson stumbled, opening the door wide for Mike Nass—and he stepped through in commanding fashion.

Nass closed out the night with a statement win, securing victory at his table and claiming the top spot for the evening. Dale Pinson, thanks to strong earlier finishes, held on to second place overall, while Jim Elwart’s steady and consistent play across all three games earned him a well-deserved spot on the podium in third.

Season Standings Shake-Up

Despite falling short in Game Three, Mike Soper retained his lead in the league standings, but Mike Nass’s big night vaulted him into second place. Rounding out the top five were Cliff Jones, Dale Pinson, and Scott Sutter, all proving they’re serious contenders in this season’s title chase.

Good Times, Great Cards

Beyond the chips and cards, it was another fantastic evening of good food, cold drinks, and even better company. With momentum shifting and rivalries heating up, the Spring Season is shaping up to be one for the books.

Until next time—stay sharp, play smart, and we’ll see you on the felts, Mavericks!
