Pinson Takes the Night and the Points Lead
As spring cautiously peeks around the corner to test the waters, winter remains firmly in control at the Free Poker Network. With just four weeks left in the Winter Season, twenty-nine determined Mavericks gathered around the felt with one of two goals in mind: strengthen their position in the season-long points race or play the role of spoiler and deny someone else the glory.
From the moment the first cards hit the table, the tension in the room was unmistakable. Chips clicked, eyes narrowed, and the Mavericks got down to business. In game one, it was Steve Cooper, Drew Bovee, and Jim McQueen who seized early control, taking command of their tables and setting the pace for what promised to be a wild night.
Game two, however, flipped the script.
Three different Mavericks stepped up and essentially said, “Hold our beer.” Mike Pjeter, Dale Pinson, and Tyler Macsuga stormed through their tables, each claiming victory and sending shockwaves through the nightly point standings. With two games in the books, the math became interesting. Dale Pinson, with a first- and second-place finish, sat atop the leaderboard with nineteen points. Mike Pjeter lurked just one point behind, while Matt Gingell trailed by only two. Four other Mavericks were within four points, setting up a final game that truly could have gone to anyone.
As game three began, all eyes drifted toward Pinson. Could he break the infamous curse of the points leader crashing out early in the final game? Or would one of the challengers make a dramatic last push for the nightly crown?
The eliminations came quickly. The Binders were the first to fall, followed soon after by Gingell, whose run for the top spot came to an abrupt halt. One by one the field dwindled until only two true contenders remained in the race for the nightly title: Pinson and Pjeter, battling on separate tables but locked in a duel nonetheless.
Pinson’s run ended in third place, leaving the door open. For Pjeter, the path was clear—win his table and the night was his. But poker has a way of writing its own stories. Pjeter also finished third, sealing the deal and handing the night’s victory to Dale Pinson.
Pjeter’s strong showing secured him second place overall, while Candace Sutter came charging out of nowhere with a game three table win to capture third place for the night.
With the victory, Dale Pinson vaulted to the top of the Winter Season leaderboard, nudging Jim Elwart into second place. Mike Pjeter, Cliff Jones, and Rick Hoag now round out the top five as the race tightens.
Only four weeks remain in the Free Poker Network’s Winter Season—and the final week is a double-points showdown. The pressure is mounting, the standings are tightening, and the question remains:
Who wants it more… and who will crumble when the stakes are highest?
One thing is certain—it’s going to be a thrilling finish.
Until next Tuesday…
See you on the felts, Mavericks. ![]()
