The Spring Season of the Free Poker Network’s Clash of Kings and Queens promotion kicked off in style as 22 Mavericks gathered at The Mayfield Tavern for a night of camaraderie, competition, and high-stakes poker. Before the action began, a well-earned congratulations went out to Lewis Iler, the reigning Winter Season Points Champion. But with the past now behind them, it was time to hear those iconic words—"Shuffle up and deal!"

Early Dominance: Soper, Soper & Macsuga Set the Pace

Right out of the gate, Mike Soper, Amber Soper, and Tyler Macsuga wasted no time making their presence known, each securing commanding wins at their tables. But with three games on the night, consistency would be the key to staying on top.

Game Two: Soper Strikes Again

The second round saw Mike Soper continue his relentless run, clinching yet another table win. After stumbling in the final week of the Winter Season, he sent a clear message—he was back, focused, and ready to dominate. But he wasn’t alone. Jim Elwart and Mike Nass also stepped up, taking wins at their respective tables and keeping the leaderboard tight heading into the final showdown.

Game Three: The Chase to the Crown

Heading into the decisive third game, Soper held a slim two-point lead, with Scott Sutter and Amanda Dudek breathing down his neck, just two points back. The battle intensified as Dale Pinson, Cliff Jones, and Candace Sutter made their final push, determined to steal the night’s top honors.

But Soper wasn’t about to let this one slip away. A strong finish in Game Three secured his first victory of the Spring Season, proving that he was back in championship form.

Meanwhile, Cliff Jones’ victory in the final round catapulted him to second place overall, while the ever-consistent Scott Sutter rounded out the podium in third. Lewis Iler continued his strong play, finishing fourth, with George Pethers securing a solid fifth-place finish.

An Epic Start to the Season!

All in all, it was a fantastic night of competition and an electric start to what promises to be an unforgettable Spring Season. If opening night was any indication, the battle for the Clash of Kings and Queens crown will be fierce, and every hand will count.

Until next time, Mavericks—stay sharp, play bold, and we’ll see you on the felts!
