Poker Night Thrills at The Mayfield Tavern
Tuesday nights at The Mayfield Tavern have become a beloved tradition, filled with friendly competition, camaraderie, and skilled poker play. This past week was no exception, with 21 players gathering for another exciting round of games, including new player Mike Nass and birthday boy Tyler Macsuga. The air was charged with excitement as the Mavericks prepared to battle it out at the tables.
Mike Baker and Wesley Jones wasted no time making their presence known, winning their respective tables in dominant fashion during the first game. They set the tone for the evening, with Baker clearly aiming for a trifecta of victories. Meanwhile, Mike Nass, the night's fresh face, proved he was no slouch when it came to poker, holding his own against the seasoned regulars.
The second game followed a similar pattern, with Baker once again triumphing at his table, firmly establishing himself as the player to beat. However, as the evening wore on, the competition heated up. Lewis Iler, riding the momentum of two strong finishes in the first two games, found himself just two points behind Baker, while Candace Sutter was only one point shy of Iler’s score.
As the final game of the evening unfolded, the stage was set for a dramatic finish. Surprisingly, Baker hit the rail early, leaving the door wide open for his competitors. In the end, it was Iler's consistent performance, including a strong second-place finish in game three, that secured him the top spot for the night. Baker managed to hold onto second place, while Sutter rounded out the top three.
With one month nearly complete, the overall season standings have Candace Sutter in first place, followed closely by Mike Baker, Mike Swaim, Amanda Dudek, and Jim Elwart. The final week of October promises to be even more thrilling, with double points on the line, making it anyone’s game. Tuesday nights at The Mayfield Tavern are only getting better—see you on the felts!
