Maverick Poker League Heats Up in the Second Month of Dash-for-Cash Summer Season

As the Maverick Poker League entered the second month of the Free Poker Network's Dash-for-Cash Summer Season, all eyes were on Rick Hoag. Last season's champion and current leader, Hoag faced intense competition on a beautiful summer evening, with 17 Mavericks vying for the nightly prize across three grueling games.

The action kicked off with Rick Hoag blazing through his table to secure a win in the first game, matched in prowess by Candace Sutter at her table. However, the spotlight also shone on Jim Elwart and Steve Hertson, both contenders in this season's top ten, who emerged victorious at their respective tables in the second game. Despite their wins, it was Scott Sutter who took the lead after two second-place finishes, heading into the third game with a slim one-point lead over Hertson, Amanda Dudeck, and Cliff Jones. Jim Elwart and Rick Hoag trailed closely, just two points behind.

The third game unfolded with unexpected twists. Hoag and Jones, both strong competitors, were the second players eliminated at their tables, leaving Amanda Dudeck to make a valiant effort, ultimately finishing fourth. The battle for the win intensified among Elwart, Sutter, and Hertson. Hertson secured a second-place finish at his table, while both Elwart and Scott Sutter claimed victories at theirs.

Scott Sutter’s strong performance not only clinched the nightly win but also propelled him to the top of the Summer Season leaderboard, displacing Rick Hoag to second place. Steve Hertson and Lewis Iler rounded out the top four positions. The competition remains fierce with seven weeks left in the season, including two double-points nights that could significantly impact the standings.
