With just one week left in the Free Poker Network’s Summer Season and the high-stakes Dash-for-Cash Promo, tension reached a fever pitch during the latest Tuesday night showdown. Eighteen of the league’s top Mavericks gathered, each vying to solidify their positions and, potentially, steal the league season championship from current leader Steve Herston.

Herston has held a strong position for much of the season, but as the night unfolded, it became clear that his grip on the top spot is far from secure. With one week left and a final double-points event looming, the race is still wide open.

Scott and Coop Dominate Early Play

As the first game kicked off, both Scott Sutter and Steve “Coop” Cooper wasted no time making their intentions clear. The two poker pros each clinched victories at their respective tables, positioning themselves well for the night. By the end of game two, it was a case of “déjà vu all over again” as Sutter and Coop repeated their victories, creating a thrilling two-point lead over fellow competitor George Pethers. Meanwhile, the rest of the field found themselves trailing by six points, highlighting the skill and determination of the top three contenders.

High Tension in Game Three

Game three had the potential to turn the night into a poker masterclass, with Sutter and Cooper once again drawn to different tables. A potential “double trifecta” loomed large as each player eyed another victory. However, the pressure began to mount, and it was Cooper who blinked first. He bowed out in fourth place at his table, leaving Sutter in the driver’s seat, battling it out with Pethers.

In the end, Sutter emerged victorious, securing his second trifecta of the night and claiming the bounty. Pethers, despite a strong showing, finished third at his table but still managed to edge out Coop by a single point, securing second place overall.

The Final Showdown: Who Will Take It All?

With the season’s final week looming and double points up for grabs, the championship is still very much in doubt. Six players, including Sutter, Cooper, and Pethers, remain in striking distance of Herston’s top spot. Next week’s finale will determine who has the skill, strategy, and nerve to claim the coveted title of season champion.

The final night promises to be a showdown of epic proportions. With double points in play and so many top players within reach, the Free Poker Network’s Summer Season championship is still anyone’s game.

See you on the felts for the thrilling conclusion!
