The Mayfield Tavern was buzzing with excitement as the Maverick Poker League held its Free Poker Network's Spring/Summer Tournament of Champions. With the added stakes of the Dash-for-Cash Promotion, the night promised fierce competition—and it certainly delivered.

For the first two hours, the players jockeyed for position, keeping things tight as the blinds increased. But as the pressure mounted, it became clear that time was running out to make their moves. Jim Elwart was the first to fall, soon followed by Steve Cooper, marking the beginning of the eliminations. As the night wore on, the field continued to shrink, and the intensity skyrocketed.

The pivotal moment came when a straight flush knocked out Amber Soper, setting the stage for the final table. The play became fast and aggressive, with chips flying across the table in quick exchanges. Lewis Iler was the next to be eliminated, followed by Jason Owen, who just couldn't catch a break.

Ashton Groth gave it a valiant effort, but he was eliminated, leaving us on the prize bubble with just five players remaining: Rick Hoag, Amanda Dudeck, Cliff Jones, Herston, and Pethers. With four prize spots and five players, the tension was palpable. Hoag made a bold all-in move with kings and a second-nut flush draw after the flop, but Herston, holding the nut flush draw, called. The turn brought Herston the flush, sending Hoag to the rail on the bubble.

Now it was a battle for the crown. Pethers was the next to be felted, leaving Dudeck, Jones, and Herston in a three-way showdown. Amanda Dudeck, gaining momentum with each hand, seemed unstoppable. Herston, short-stacked, went all-in and was called by Dudeck, who caught a deuce on the river to take him out, leaving her heads-up with Cliff Jones.

Although Amanda had the chip lead going into heads-up play, Jones was close behind and fought hard, winning two all-ins and refusing to back down. But in the end, it was Amanda Dudeck who prevailed, dominating hand after hand to claim the victory.

Congratulations to Amanda Dudeck, our Tournament of Champions winner! Cliff Jones took a well-deserved second place after a strong performance throughout the night. Special kudos to Amanda for a stellar showing and for finishing the season as our TOC Champion!

What a way to wrap up the Spring/Summer season!
