They say good things happen to those who wait and New York has waited the longest to hold their state final for the last Golden Ticket qualifiers. This Saturday at the Parting Glass in Saratoga Springs, NY the cards will fly as 151 qualifiers will converge to determine the best league players in the state of NY. The action will start at 1pm Eastern and it will be a full day of poker, with the main event as well as a 2nd chance FREEROLL at 6pm. Coming from FPN headquarters will be wild card Steve Pris (pictured) to run and emcee the tournament..Buckle up for a fun ride!
Of the 151 qualifiers from all around the state (qualifier list) 20 players will start the day with a double chip stack. 54 players in the field made it to the NY Golden Ticket State Championship by directly qualifying while the other 97 made it through by regionals. There are NINE former New York State Champs that will be trying to win their way back to the National Championship in December.
Not only will people have to be dodging and watching out for double chip stacks, former champs, they should also keep a close eye on Jimmy Elliott and Jeff Bogart. Jimmy was the overall point leader in a quarter by taking down the Clubhouse Racebook in the Spring session and respectively Jeff was the overall point leader in the Summer session. We don't want to leave out one heck of a player in Don Whitley either as he has been at the past two National Championships and is a defending champion as he placed in the top 10 in Las Vegas back in July and won a seat in the 2012 World Series of Poker!
Good luck this weekend, NY poker players!
