On Wednesday July 4th, 99 players from 19 different states gathered at the MGM poker room in Las Vegas to try and win their shot at millions in the WSOP. Overall the top eleven players would win a seat into the WSOP Event #59 and the last person standing would also win the WSOP $10,000 Main Event seat. Janet Casey from New Castle, DE had her game face on all day as in the end she was able to take the tournament down. The competition was stiff, but Janet played really well and it showed. She won the two WSOP seats and became the first ever female National Champion and will be the face of the Free Poker Network for the next six months.
Anthony Vitalo from the Cube Restaurant in Newark became the second ever FPN Delaware state champion. He was able to out last Joseph Schaffer from Matilda's for the victory. Both players qualified for the National Championship with Anthony winning airfare allowance and a free hotel stay at Harrah's. Way to go guys!
Frank and Janet Casey a husband/wife couple were able to take two of the three spots recently at the Delaware state championship. Janet placed third to qualify for the Vegas or Bust National Championship and will piggy back on her husbands free ride as Frank was able to win the Delaware state championship earning himself a free stay at Hooters Casino in Las Vegas and money towards airfare. Caught in the middle was Andrew Snellings who got second place. Andrew will join Frank and Janet in Las Vegas at the MGM on July 4th to take their shot at the 12 WSOP seats up for grabs.
Dannie Powell from Dover, DE made an unbelievable run at the Sin City Showdown National Championship title. At the start of the day there were a total of 75 players from around the US that were all trying to win one of ten WSOP buy-ins the following day and first place which also came with a $10,000 buy-in to the main event. In the end Dannie outlasted 73 other people. It was looking good for him against Jeff Miller from NE after the flop in the final hand as he had the lead, but the turn changed it around and sent Dannie home in second place. Consolation prize, a seat into the WSOP event #54. Way to go Dannie, great run, and heck of a good job to represent the state of Delaware!!!
